Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory, the notorious co-founder of the Black Mafia Family (BMF) crime organization, has been released from federal prison and is now finishing his sentence in a halfway house in Florida.
According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP), Big Meech was transferred on Tuesday from FCI Coleman Low, a federal correctional facility in Wildwood, Florida, to a community confinement program. His transition is being managed by the BOP’s Miami Residential Reentry Management Office.
Big Meech was originally arrested in 2005 and sentenced in 2008 to 30 years in prison on charges related to drug trafficking and money laundering. His sentence was reduced by nearly three years earlier this year by a federal judge. While the exact date of his full release remains unclear, it is confirmed that he is no longer in federal prison.
Brittany K. Barnett, his attorney and co-founder of the Buried Alive Project, expressed her joy over Flenory’s release, stating that he has spent his time in prison focusing on personal growth. Barnett emphasized that this marks a fresh start for him as he steps into a new chapter of his life after almost 20 years behind bars.
Meanwhile, the legacy of Big Meech and the BMF empire has been kept alive in popular culture, thanks in large part to rapper 50 Cent. His successful docuseries and TV series about BMF have garnered widespread attention, even turning Big Meech’s son, Lil Meech, into a recognized actor. Notable figures from the hip-hop world, including Snoop Dogg, 2 Chainz, Lil Baby, Yung Miami, and Eminem, have all made guest appearances on the show.
As the series heads into its fourth season, fans are eagerly watching to see if Big Meech will make his mark in the latest chapter of the BMF story.
Stay tuned for updates.
