The UNDP reports that the ongoing conflict will nearly double the poverty rate in the Palestinian territory to 74.3% this year. Their assessment indicates that Gaza’s Human Development Index (HDI), which measures average achievement in key areas of development, is expected to fall to levels not seen since 1955, effectively erasing over 69 years of progress.
In the occupied West Bank, the HDI is projected to decline to levels reflecting a loss of 16 years, with further deterioration likely.
