Fashion’s most anticipated night, the Met Gala 2025, is set to make a grand return.
Hosted by Vogue at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the event will take place on May 5, 2025. The Costume Institute’s latest exhibition, setting the gala’s tone, will spotlight Black fashion and culture. The chosen theme, titled “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” will explore the significance of clothing in shaping Black identities across the Atlantic diaspora, focusing on the Black dandy aesthetic.
A star-studded co-chairs have been confirmed, including actor Colman Domingo, F1 champion Lewis Hamilton, rappers A$AP Rocky and Pharrell Williams, and Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. NBA legend LeBron James will also serve as an honorary chair for the event.
This year’s theme announcement has been met with excitement from fans and fashion enthusiasts alike. One user on X (formerly Twitter) praised the theme’s focus on Black culture, calling for designers and attendees to honor and respect its significance. Another expressed excitement, noting that the theme stands out as something truly unique and refreshing.
The dress code for 2024’s event, co-chaired by Jennifer Lopez, Zendaya, Bad Bunny, and Chris Hemsworth, was “The Garden of Time,” drawing inspiration from J.G. Ballard’s 1962 short story. The 2024 exhibit, themed “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” showcased 50 rare and fragile garments, reflecting the fleeting nature of fashion history.
Fans eagerly await the 2025 Met Gala, hoping it will be one of the most memorable yet.
